The Institute for Space–Earth Environmental Research (ISEE), Nagoya University invites applications for a Designated Assistant Professor to lead the efforts for development, operation and data analysis of the Cherenkov Telescope Array project. We are looking for motivated applicants even if you have little experience in gamma-ray astrophysics.

  1. Number of positions: One position for Designated Assistant Professor
  2. Division: Division for Cosmic-ray Research
  3. Research description:
    Our division is working on the development of semiconductor photon sensor for the Cherenkov Telescope Array project. The successful applicant is expected to lead the efforts for development, calibrations, commissioning and simulation work of the photon sensor and also to mentor PhD students.
  4. Term: Appointment is renewed every fiscal year and may be extended until March 31, 2026
  5. Conditions of employment:
    · Work hours: 38.75 hours/week
      The allocation of working hours for University faculty is left to the discretion of the University faculty member, pursuant to
    · Salary: 400,000 JPY/month (depends on your work experience)
    · Benefits: commuting expenses (up to 55,000 JPY/month), health insurance, public pension plan, employment insurance, workers’ compensation insurance
     In accordance with the Tokai National Higher Education and Research System Employee Work Rules.
  6. Qualifications: all of the following conditions must be satisfied.
    · Applicant must hold a PhD by the start date.
    · Applicant does not have another primary occupation, or is not a graduate student or a research student at the start date.
  7. Start date: earliest possible time after November 1, 2021
