The Theoretical Astroparticle Physics group of the Institute for Astro- & Particle Physics at the University of Innsbruck (Austria) has an opening for a PhD-position in the field of theoretical multi-messenger astrophysics. We are particularly interested in a young researcher familiar with non-thermal processes in high-energy astrophysics, and with a strong computational interest in simulations of radiation and particle transport, and its application at the interface between theory and observations. The successful candidate is further expected to engage as teaching assistant with lectures, supervision of labs, tutor students. The salary scale is B1/1-B1/2 (under Austrian Collective Treaty).

Applicants are expected to hold a MSc/diploma in physics (astro-, astroparticle- or particle physics) or astronomy. Good knowledge of astroparticle physics, experience in high-level programming and skilful handling of linux-based systems is required. The successful candidate has a good spoken and written command of the English language, good communication skills and team spirit.

The position is available starting 1 July 2021, a later starting date this year is possible.
