INFN scientific research grant in Rome, Italy

for: "IXPE mission: scientific data analysis and software support at SSDC"

The grant lasts 24 months and is renewable for a further 12 months. The annual NET salary according to the regulations in force on 01-04-2021 is about € 18.000.


To promote the mobility of researchers, the winner who have obtained the PhD in a province or metropolitan city area other than that where their research grant is seated (Rome), will receive an additional economic incentive (up to 3 years), provided that they are not resident or have not had their residence or scholarships or other research grants paid by the INFN or other scientific institutions in the three years prior to signing the contract in the province or metropolitan City of the destination.


Applicants must hold an Italian or equivalent PhD degree in Physics, Engineering, Material
Science, Astronomy, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, or an Italian or equivalent Master-level degree in Physics, Engineering, Material Science, Astronomy, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics obtained not earlier than 6 years before the call deadline and a CV suitable for conducting research activities, including at least 30 months of graduate-level research activity, of which at least two years as a Ph.D. student, if requested.
The PhD degree must be obtained within 12 months of signing the contract.

Applications, in electronic form, must be submitted to INFN no later than June 26 at 23:59 through the website https://reclutamento.dsi.infn.it/

Applications must include:

  • a curriculum vitae, without sensitive data with authorization for any publication in accordance with the law;
  • a publication list;
  • a copy of a valid picture identity document (to be shown on the day of the interview); Applicants can also specify name, surname and e-mail address of maximum n. 2 referees, who may upload a reference letter no later than 26-06-2022 23:59:59.

​​​​​Applicants may also include: 

  • copies of fellowships or employment contracts in the public and/or private sector;
  • postgraduates certificates and/or diplomas obtained in Italy or abroad.

​​​​​​​Date, time and venue of the interview and all the admitted candidates will be published on the web page of the call at least 15 days before the interview, no further communication needed.

The candidate, applying to the call, can ask to carry out the interview exam by videoconference. In case of technical issues the candidate can carry out the videoconference at an INFN structure after an explicit approval.

The Evaluation Committee will grade each candidate with a maximum of 100 points, divided as follows: - 30 points to grade the quality of the CV; - 70 points to grade the quality of the interview. The minimum grade required to pass the interview is 49/70 while, to achieve a valuable ranking, the final evaluation, as sum of the two scores, must be above 70.

At the end of the selection process, the final ranking list will be published on the web page of the call.

The work of the fellow is carried out under the supervision of the manager of the research, project or experiment which includes the grant.

The provision of data is necessary to evaluate the participation requirements and qualifications and their non-indication may preclude such an assessment. The INFN guarantees that everybody can access to personal data concerning them, as well as the rectification, the deletion and limitation of the same and the right to object to their processing; it also guarantees the right to file a complaint with the Data Processing Authority about the processing carried out.
