Postdoc position in high-energy astrophysics

The gamma-ray group in the Erlangen Center for Astroparticle Physics (ECAP), of the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität (FAU) Erlangen-Nürnberg is seeking an individual for a postdoc position to work on testing and commissioning of gamma-ray cameras (FlashCam, SSTCam) for CTAO and on the exploitation of Early science data of CTAO.

ECAP offers a strong environment in the field of astroparticle physics. Research in the group focusses on observational high-energy astrophysics (data analysis and interpretation of Fermi-LAT, H.E.S.S.), on machine learning techniques and on development of camera electronics for CTAO, and optimisation of the science case for SWGO. In addition we are developing hardware for the Einstein Telescope.

Requirements for successful applicants are a PhD degree in Physics or equivalent. They should possess a research background and provide evidence of excellent potential. Relevant experience in hardware-related topics in astroparticle physics and an ability to work in a team is seen as beneficial. Supervision and teaching of undergraduate students is expected.

The position has a 3-year term and can be started immediately. Applications received by June 5th, 2026 will be given full consideration.
