This is a position working with Professor Alex Drlica-Wagner and the instrumentation groups at UChicago and Fermilab to demonstrate the capabilities of novel ultra-low noise Skipper CCDs for applications in optical/near-infrared astronomy with future NASA/DOE missions. The position will involve a combination of laboratory testing, instrument construction, and data collection/analysis using the SOAR Integral Field Spectrograph.Diversity and Inclusion are core values of the KICP and the Department of Astronomy & Astrophysics.
